So here I am. Sitting at my current employer’s place of business, bored out of my tree.
People ask, “What is it like to live in Japan?”. I’ll tell you. Its great. Most of the time. Right now is not one of those times and I’m finding it hard to find good points about it.
So what happened since my last entry?
Basically I’ve been working for the last 4 years building a hosting system. This system, along with all it’s customers, got sold to another company – a company with a “unique work ethic” that I should probably not get into on a public blog. Needless to say, I don’t feel welcome here, and I therefore have told them that I intend to get the hell out as soon as I can.
I’ve been looking for work. One large financial company here interviewed me several times, and I’m now just waiting for HR to get back to me with the official offer letter etc – my sources tell me that I have the job – but being a large company it takes time and it all might fall through at the last minute for various reasons.
Applied to a few jobs back in Australia, some other ISP related jobs here in Tokyo, but I’ve not heard anything yet. Recruiters! Take note: I am for hire. At least until I get a firm offer from the big financial firm (TBFF).
Why do I want to work for TBFF? Because they are smart, there are good people there, huge numbers of systems scattered everywhere, a complete mess … it will be a challenge and it will be fun. So, we’ll see.
