Holy Mactels batman!

in Tech Stuff

I was reading last week about the race to get Windows XP booting on the new Macintosh Core Duo based iMacs and MacBooks.

Nobody has been successful so far because Apple did not include the BIOS compatibility code that allows BIOS dependent software like Windows and Linux to boot.

A guy called Colin from Houston, Texas, created a bounty for the person or group that first establishes a proven method of booting XP natively on an iMac.

When I looked last week it was around the $2000 mark.

Today it was up to nearly $10000! Thats a lot of money.

I have serious doubts anyone will actually get it working without Microsoft or Apple’s help. Maybe Intel will release a BIOS patch. Who knows. But unless someone actually writes some code it will not work.
